Day 10: Hasta Luego Espana!

Image
Well here we are at the end of our vacation. Today we left Cordoba and headed back to Sevilla to catch our flight back to Barcelona. Once in Barcelona we checked into our hotel and headed out for our last dinner. We actually found a small shop that sold the most amazing empanadas and alfarojes (I know these are Argentinian specialties but they were the best!)     Alfajores The next day we went out for our last European breakfast of croissant and hot chocolate and then headed to the airport for our long journey back home. This vacation was amazing and I hope to go back someday as there are still so many places to go visit in Spain. Muchas gracias para leer mi blog. Hasta luego! First meal back in the US:)

Today we spent the day in beautiful Cordoba. The highlight of the day was visiting the Mezquita-Cathedral and ancient moorish mosque turned into a cathedral during the Spanish Inquisition of the 13th century. After our visit of the cathedral we spent some time walking around town passing by the Alcazar de los Reyes (although it was closed on that day). We then went to a local supermarket and bought a few things to enjoy a picnic in the park. The weather was just wonderful (mid 80's in the beginning of June). After lunch we kept strolling around to the Feria de los Patios neighborhood. It is a beautiful corner of town where all the houses are decorated with flowers. Very pretty! You can buy tickets for a tour but we decided to enj...

Day 8: Alacala del Rey

Today we left Granada on our way to our last stop in Andalusia. After leaving Granada we stopped in a small town to visit the Mota fortress in  Alcala La Real .  This was definitely a stop to plan on your next excursion if you are in the region. The property sits high on a hill overlooking the city. It dates back from the 13th century and it was at bordering the kingdom of Castille and Granada. It has been beautifully preserved and since it is on a less traveled road we really enjoyed it without the crowd. Here are the pictures of our stop:
