Day 9: La Mexquita en Cordoba

Today we spent the day in beautiful Cordoba. The highlight of the day was visiting the Mezquita-Cathedral and ancient moorish mosque turned into a cathedral during the Spanish Inquisition of the 13th century. We bought our tickets right at the entrance (arrive there around 9:00-9:30 when it's less crowded). The cathedral opens at 10:00 and we spent a good hour enjoying the architecture and listen to a few explanations from various tour guides.
After our visit of the cathedral we spent some time walking around town passing by the Alcazar de los Reyes (although it was closed on that day). We then went to a local supermarket and bought a few things to enjoy a picnic in the park. The weather was just wonderful (mid 80's in the beginning of June).
After lunch we kept strolling around to the Feria de los Patios neighborhood. It is a beautiful corner of town where all the houses are decorated with flowers. Very pretty! You can buy tickets for a tour but we decided to enjoy it on our own which was just as delightful.
We then decided to return to the hotel for "la siesta" and spend some time by the pool before our last dinner and flamenco show.
For our final dinner in Spain we decided to go to the Patio de la Juderia where we enjoyed live flamenco dancing while eating.
Here are a few pictures from one of the final days in Andalusia:
